
ARSAG International is deeply honored to announce that LIEUTENANT GENERAL DARREN W. MCDEW will deliver the keynote address at ARSAG ’13. Lt. Gen. McDew is Commander, 18th Air Force, Scott Air Force Base, Ill. As Air Mobility Command’s sole war fighting numbered air force, 18th Air Force is responsible for the command’s worldwide operational mission of providing rapid, global mobility and sustainment for America’s armed forces through airlift, aerial refueling, aeromedical evacuation, and contingency response. With more than 39,000 active-duty Airmen, Reservists and civilians and approximately 1,300 aircraft, the 18th Air Force manages the global air mobility enterprise through the 618th Air and Space Operations Center (Tanker Airlift Control Center), 11 wings and two stand-alone groups. General McDew also commands Task Force 294, which overseas Air Force tanker operations in support of U.S. Strategic Command
ARSAG will be privileged to welcome MAJOR GENERAL JOHN F. THOMPSON as Guest Speaker at ARSAG ’13, Maj Gen Thompson is the Air Force Program Executive Officer for Tankers, Tanker Directorate, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. He is responsible for the planning and execution of all life cycle activities of the Air Force tanker fleet. His responsibilities include development, test, fielding and support of the KC-46 tanker system; in addition to modification and sustainment of the Air Force’s tanker legacy tankers, the KC-135 and KC-10.

ARSAG International is the DOD Joint Standardization Board for Aerial Refueling Systems. Its annual Meetings are for DOD/Military Service attendance and participation as prescribed by the OSD Charter for ARSAG.
The Charter directs the JSB to meet a minimum of twice each yea and specifies Government participation to promote and maintain complete standardization and interoperability of all aspects of international aerial refueling. By OSD direction, the ARSAG JSB is chaired by a high-level Military/Government representative. ARSAG is chartered by the US Office of the Under-Secretary of Defense as a DoD Joint Standardization Board (JSB) for Aerial Refueling Systems under the Defense Standardization Program (DSP). According to the DoD, the objective of the JSB is to achieve common, mutually satisfactory solutions to shared requirements and problems. In its advisory capacity, ARSAG develops and recommends standards, technical and operational procedures, military specifications, NATO STANAGs, and designs for aerial refueling systems.
